FAQs

1. Why did you make this?

We made Seen because our relationships matter. Decades of research show that, above all else, relationships keep us happy and healthy throughout our lives. Which we find both mind-blowing and also totally obvious.

2. How are you making it easier for us to connect?

We’re building a social app that feels more human. So we built features that do just that: - High fidelity profiles to get a good sense of who someone is. - Communities where you can meet people with shared passions, experiences, and values. - Curated recs that make it easier to meet up IRL and take the work out of planning fun, unique experiences. All in the safety of a catfish-free zone, where every profile is verified. That’s our whole thing.

3. So how is Seen safer?

You can’t feel seen unless you feel safe. That’s why we use machine learning to verify all Seen profiles. So Seen is a catfish-free zone, where everyone is who they say they are.

4. Wait but what are Vibeboards?

Vibeboards are like a 'personal Pinterest' and give you a sense of what someone’s like. You can express yourself through the films, music, podcasts, books, shows, games, GIFs, teams and art you love. Ever see someone in your favourite band’s t-shirt or spot someone reading your all-time favourite book and instantly want to be their bestie? That’s basically the whole idea with Vibeboards.

5. What are Communities all about?

Seen Communities are groups where you can meet people who have shared experiences, values, or interests. Exploring a Seen Community is like walking into a room of people you haven’t met but know you’ll probably get along with. Some Communities are private, so you’ll have to be let in by an existing member. And soon we’ll unlock member-made private Communities, so if you can’t find a Community that makes you feel seen, you can create it.

6. What’s the deal with Experiences?

Our curated recs help take the work and pressure out of planning fun, interesting experiences. They let you spend your time sharing unique experiences with interesting people and exploring your city.

7. How do I send someone a like?

On Seen, you can connect with someone by reacting (with any emoji you like) to a specific bit of their profile: a photo, video, Vibe, or Community.

8. What’s this coin flip thing?

Let’s ditch the hesitation about who messages first. On Seen, you flip a coin to see who kicks off the chat: it’s heads, you’re up, tails: they’re up. Once the coin is flipped, the countdown’s on: you have one week to start the chat before the match disappears.

9. What even is a Private Alpha?

It’s tech startup speak for getting early access to our app. Our features won’t be perfect yet, but you’ll be part of making them better!

10. What’s the No D*ckheads rule?

We want you feel safe and respected on Seen. Think about it: if you were at a bar and someone started hurling abuse, harassing staff, making people uncomfortable, and bringing a toxic vibe – they’d get chucked out. Same goes with Seen. That’s why we have a strict No D*ckheads rule and other rules that we take incredibly seriously.

11. Where are you and when are you coming to my city?

Seen is London born, raised, and launched. We will be coming to other cities in the UK before benevolently taking over the rest of the world soon.
